Occupation: Healer (Pediatrics)
Financial Status: Pretty Okay.
Political Affiliation: DA, Order! Whoever was fighting the evil that was.
Social stereotype: The carefree geek
Personality:
Carefree geek is not a contradiction. The geek part of that doesn’t have to deal with the fact that he was super smart in school (although he was a Ravenclaw and super smart) and will randomly recite transfigurations theories to anyone who will listen. The geek part comes from the fact that Anthony is very much his father’s son when it comes to the rather geeky pop culture things he was raised on. He can talk at length about the plots of Martin Miggs the Mad Muggle and Aurorly Aurora (Let’s face it. Aurora WAS pretty hot). He also can speak at length about the things his muggle father loved and got him hooked on as a child. Star Wars, Doctor Who, Batman to name a few.

Some say that he just hasn’t grown up completely; he’ll argue that his childlike behavior is a good thing considering the fact that he works with children all day long. He likes children. He relates well to them. What you see is what you get when it comes to children. Adults can be rather tiring. But he likes keeping in touch with his inner child, which today tends to come hand in hand with an adult sense of humor.

He’s sarcastic or dirty limerick spouting. It just depends on his mood. He’s not a comedy snob like some people, and doesn’t really care as long as he’s entertained. It can be something smart like political satire or something completely juvenile like throwing water balloons off the roof of his flat, which was done once with Vicky, granted he was a bit tipsy.

He grew up in a household with a teacher and a museum curator. As a result, Anthony liked school. Everyday his parents were big on learning new things and doing educational things. He loved to learn, which prepared him really well for Hogwarts and his training as a Healer. His entire outlook about school was remarkably stress free. He knew what he had to do and did it, figuring that getting overly stressed about it would serve to do nothing but make it worse.

For big things like work and school he tends to try to keep a good schedule, it’s everything else that gets done whenever he gets to it. Which, granted can be annoying for whoever is asking him to clean up or do the dishes since his response is “I’ll get to it.” This response ALWAYS means tomorrow even if he seriously thinks he‘ll get it done in an hour or so. Also, he lets a great many things roll off his back, even important things sometimes, or things that are important to other people. He tries to work on it, but there are many things that a person should get worked up about (prejudice, people being mean to animals or kids) but at times a great many things don’t tick his radar. To be honest it can come off as a bit dismissive.

However, utter cows like Umbridge DO tick the radar. Anthony was in the DA, and will totally fight for what is right when it matters. He really enjoyed running around behind Umbridge’s back his fifth year. And after Hogwarts he did join the War Programmes to become a Healer which is something he always did want to do. He doesn’t like to talk about the war. He likes to act like he’s all “it was in the past” about it, but he hated it just like everyone else. He still sometimes boggles at the fact that everything got so out of control so fast when he allows himself to think about it. But still he doesn’t talk about it. He flat out refuses to do so.

Anthony, however, was lucky. His family and friends came out of the war all right, and they are his favorite people in the world. He’s a people person. He loves being around almost anyone, and those people mean the world to him. Whether it’s his friends or Vicky’s friends, he gets on fairly well with them all. He enjoys having dinner with a lot of people or just going to the pub.
History:
Barbara Merkel got a job with the ministry of magic not long after leaving Hogwarts. She was an academic at heart and adored history, and while she was only doing clerical work while she sent her resume elsewhere she really enjoyed her job mostly because of her friends. These were the friends who would drag the normally homebody like Barbara out for drinks for happy hour after work, or dinner or shopping. They were the reason she wasn’t a shut in. They would go to a wide array of place including this muggle place down the road. They became regulars, and that was where she met Gerald Goldstein. He was a regular and still in university. The pair got to know each other over a few months, and he finally got the nerve to ask her out.

Now the beginning of this relationship was hard, mostly because Barbara was hiding such a large part of herself. After things began to get serious that’s when she dropped the magic bomb. Gerald really didn’t believe it at first, and he pretty much thought she was mad. After she showed him a couple things though, he had no choice but to believe her. After four years of dating, Gerald finally proposed, and a year later the pair was married.

By the time Anthony was born, Gerald had been teaching for a while, and Barbara had finally found a job she liked working in a secret wizarding section in The National Gallery.

Both of Anthony’s parents took a great deal of interest in his education, but there was no doubt that the boy would end up at Hogwarts. As a child Anthony was fairly hyperactive with the accidental magic. Thankfully it wasn’t ever anything too big.

At eleven years old Anthony was dropped off at platform 9 and ¾s just like every other wizarding child. Barbara was a bit beside herself. Her only child was going away to school, and she’d end up writing to him every day that first term. That’s something he ended up a bit teased about, but it’s not something that could be helped.

Regardless he adjusted well to school. He made friends with a great many people, and he ended up a prefect (which mum and dad were pretty ecstatic about). After all Mrs. Goldstein is nothing if not a FORCE of NATURE to run away from in fright. The woman was loving, but stern, and she’s an expert nagger.

Fifth year was something else entirely. Enter Delores Umbridge the bint. Anthony hated her with a passion, and seriously wanted to hold a book burning for that book and book burning is a massively immoral thing to do for a Goldstein and a Ravenclaw. He did enjoy the DA. He liked actually learning things he’d need, and he loved the idea of making crazy good grade on his OWL regardless of what Umbridge was doing.

He stayed involved with the DA even after Umbridge was done away with, and made good enough grades to be accepted into the Healer program after school.
War Involvements:
Anthony had always wanted to be a healer, and when he left school the ministry of magic had its war programmes in full swing. So that’s what he did. He kind of didn’t know what else to do to help, so that’s what he decided on doing.

It was a stressful and frightening time. People were constantly on red alert, and it really was one of the most stressful times in his life, but every cloud has a silver lining it seems. Not too long after leaving Hogwarts he began seeing Victoria Frobisher, and he’s been seeing her ever since. The pair even moved in together when the war was still in full swing.

At the time she wanted nothing but to be out on the front lines. She wanted to be a hit witch or an auror, and he really didn’t want her to be. He never once told her to quit, or to not do it. He wouldn’t forbid her from doing something she really wanted to do, but he REALLY didn’t like it. It seems that she didn’t either. She quit. He thinks she was using him as an excuse, but she really didn’t seem happy doing it in the first place. Like it was something that was different than what she expected.

The war ended and then came the task of rebuilding the wizarding world. Anthony went back to get some training and now works in pediatrics. He even has his own office on the Lane.

He doesn’t really talk about the war, and neither does Vicky it seems to be something unspoken they agreed to, but he’ll celebrate the yearly anniversary of its end.
Relationships:

Spouse/Partner/Flatmate/Etc: Victoria Frobisher, girlfriend
Relationship length Four and a half years now.
History/Dynamics: Ant and Vicky met in school, and nothing happened. Ant studied and hung around with his friends, and Vicky flirted with everyone. It took a while because Ant was a bit thick in figuring out that her flirting with him was a bit different than the regular flirting she did with everyone else. After a while of this, he finally asked her out. She accepted and punched his shoulder (which she thinks was light but kind of hurt) and asked what took so long. They’ve sort of been stuck on each other ever since. They’ve been together for four years, and have lived together for quite a bit of that.

They’ve gotten used to his snoring, and her hogging the covers. They’ve survived meeting the parents, and have a dog together. And man can they bicker at times. He thinks her dad is a bit frightening and is a teeny bit afraid of her brothers. Also his mother LOVES to butt in. After all, she and Gerald dated for four years and got engaged, so obviously her son needs to get off his bum, because that poor girl is just waiting on him to propose. Not true. They’ve discussed it, and they’re both pretty happy about where their lives are right now.
